"By the Tide"

Happy Thursday!  Hope you are having a great week.  We're continuing to enjoy nice weather in Georgia, and fortunately, aren't experiencing any of the severe weather that seems to be playing havoc on other parts of the country.  Let's pray that the weather patterns will soon shift so there will be calmer days ahead for everyone.

As mentioned earlier, "By the Tide" is rapidly becoming a favorite stamp set.  A friend's birthday is soon and I decided the stamp set would make a great card for him.  Since he enjoys dining on lobster and spending time at the beach, the stamp set allowed me to design a card incorporating a bit of both.

Like myself, Darien enjoys using the "By the Tide" stamp set and created this beautiful card.

Darien prepared tags to use for her daughter's wedding favors.

Preparing for a holiday themed convention swap, Sharon prepared this beautiful card sample.  She'll be making twenty+ to share with fellow stampers!  On the two evergreen silhouettes, she stamped with Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad and then re-stamped the image with Illuminate Glitter Watermark Stampin' Pad.  It provides a nice shimmer but it does not show in the photo.

Another Father's Day Card!

Hope your Memorial Weekend was spent just as you planned!  My son and grandson visited for a couple of days so we stayed busy.  The weather was perfect so lots of time was spent outdoors enjoying a variety of activities.  Of course, the highlight for my grandson was the three snakes that decided to slither through the yard!  Fortunately, the snakes decided there was too much to bother them at our house and made their way back to the woods.  Ah, the joys of living in rural Georgia!

Today I am sharing another Father's Day card and a few more items from last week's craft marathon.  The "By The Tide" stamp set from Stampin' Up! was used for the card.  At first, I did not think that  the stamp set would be one that would be utilized often but I am finding that beautiful cards are produced using the set.
Father's Day Card using "By The Tide" from Stampin' Up!

The card base is Pool Party CS and the first layer is Very Vanilla CS.  The coral was stamped using Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad and then VersaMark was used to stamp over the coral again.  Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder was applied and heat embossed to add shimmer to the coral.  Pearl Basic Jewels were used to embellish the coral.  The fish were stamped using Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad.  You'll note that the fish in the foreground of the card is darker, it was stamped first. The fish in the upper left corner was stamped without re-inking the stamp to produce a lighter image and stamped so that part of the fish fades into the coral.  Before stamping the lighter image, I "huffed" on the stamp to moisten the remaining ink on the stamp.  The greeting was stamped using Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad and a saying from the Delightful Dozen stamp set.  A Stampin' Write Marker in Pool Party was used to color the word in the greeting.

As noted in an earlier post, last week lots of crafting was done by Sharon, Darien and me.  Below are a couple more of the items made.

The cluster of cards were prepared by Darien and though it did not photograph very well, the Swallowtail butterfly card is beautiful.  She stamped it using Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad and then re-stamped with VersaMark to heat emboss with Iridescent Ice Emboss Powder.

Sharon made the card below using the large flower from Betsy's Blossoms stamp set and the Blossoms Flower Punch.  The card has a very clean appearance and the overlapping blossoms are attached with Stampin' Dimensionals to add depth and dimension.

There are still more items to come from last week and I hope to complete posting them this week.  Additionally, card kits for purchase are in the planning stages so stay tuned for more information.

Crafting Fun!

The past three days were a blast!  In addition to working on various card designs, Sharon, Darien and I spent lots of time laughing and having "rip, roaring fun!"  Wednesday was an early night - we made it to bed around 2:30 a.m.  It brought back memories of high school slumber parties. It's been dubbed our "Crafting Slumber Party" though crafting marathon is a better name!  Plans for the next one have already begun.

It will take several days for me to recoup and I'll be editing the photos of our projects to post in the future.  A couple are ready for sharing today.  The first is a card for a friend's birthday next week.  She loves clothes shopping and we all joke that "it's all about her" so the card seems appropriate.

"All Dressed Up"

Inside greeting

The inside greeting is a "Sneak Peek" and is from the Really Good Greetings stamp set.  It will be available to order on May 31st. The card front was prepared using the "Dress Up" Framelit Dies (item #130101) and the Ovals Collection Framelit Dies Set (item #129381).  The hanger from the "Hung Up" Cute Clips (item #129389) was used and the dress was embellished using the 5/8" Flower Trim (item #126869) and  Rhinestone Basic Jewels (item #119246).

Darien's daughter is recently engaged so she worked on a variety items to use for announcements, invitations and gift tags.  The card below was prepared to use for an announcement.  The Dress Up Framelit Dies Set was used and she texture embossed the dress.

Isn't the card beautiful?
More of her crafts will be shared in a future post.

Thinking ahead to Father's Day!

As mentioned in my last blog, my sister and her friend are visiting this week.  It's been a busy day.  My sister and I will be attending the Stampin' Up! convention in July so we making the swaps that will be traded with other demonstrators. This morning was spent brainstorming and by mid-afternoon, we were finally ready to start crafting some of our ideas.  Can you imagine - three women, two Big Shot die-cutting machines, card stock, stamps, inks and more - guess what my kitchen counters and dining table look like?   Our creative juices are flowing and we're's going to be a late night!

Though Father's Day is a month away, I am thinking ahead so sharing a Father's Day card.  The card uses a Stampin' Up! classic stamp set - "Lovely As a Tree".

Another Sneak Peek!!!

Hi Everyone!  Hope your week is going well and that you're making plans for an enjoyable weekend.

Today for Creation Thursday, another sneak peek of new catalog items is being shared.  I am excited with the new products that will become available at the end of this month so I've prepared a card using the Mosaic Madness set.

A bit of Mosaic Madness
The card base was prepared using Daffodil Delight card stock (CS).  The next layer is Island Indigo CS which was texture embossed using the new Modern Mosaic Texture Impressions Embossing Folder in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  Unfortunately in my photo, the Island Indigo is not being shown in it's true color - it actually is not a dark blue as shown but more of a bright blue/green color.  As much as I tried to color correct and take photos in different lighting, it did not work!  A scrap piece of Whisper White CS was stamped using Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad and a shape from the Mosaic Madness stamp set.  The shape was then punched using the Mosaic Punch and applied randomly to the Island Indigo layer using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Daffodil Delight CS and Whisper White CS was cut using the Ovals Collection Framelits in the Big Shot.  The Bring on the Cake stamp set was used to stamp the greeting using Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad.   Rhinestones were colored using a Sharpie marker (this is a great way to color rhinestones and pearls!) and added as an extra embellishment.  The combination of the Daffodil Yellow and Island Indigo colors is one that I foresee using often.  The Mosaic Madness Bundle (stamp set and punch) will provide many creative options and I look forward to sharing more of those with you soon.

Be sure to mark your calendar for May 31st...that's when the new catalog becomes available and new products can be ordered.

My sister is coming to visit next week and we have planned a full week of crafting.  I'll be posting some of our creations so be sure to check back on Monday evening to see what we have to share.

Mother's Day Card

Hope that all the moms had an enjoyable Mother's Day.  Mine was very nice and the weather could not have been more perfect!

The past few days have been busy with other commitments so this Monday's project share is the Mother's Day card that I made and mailed to my mother.  In addition, I sent her an FTD bouquet - look at how the card and flowers coordinated!!!  Mom loved both. Thanks to my sister, Sharon, for sending me the photo of the flowers.

Mother's Day Card using Secret Garden Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The card design is a variation of the birthday card shared last week. The base on the Mother's Day card is Tempting Turquoise card stock and the large flower from the Secret Garden Stamp set was added using the Classic Stampin' Pad in the same color onto the Whisper White CS base.  Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad and a smaller flower from the same set was stamped into the center of each of the Tempting Turquoise flowers using the "stamp off, stamp on" technique as describe in the earlier post. Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad was used for the leaves.  After stamping the Whisper White CS with the flowers and leaves, the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder was used to add additional dimension to the card.  The sentiment was added along with stamped and cut flower and leaves using the Secret Garden Framelits and Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  Stampin' Dimensionals were used to adhere the flower and leaves to the sentiment band.

Today the "Flowers are Blooming" card class was held and each of the attendees was able to prepare four different flower themed cards. For three of the ladies, it was their first time attending one of my card classes and they did great!  The classes are always lots of fun.

That's it for today...I'm planning for next month's card class and will share a sample on Thursday.

A little "sneak peek"

Yippee!!! My Stampin' Up! "sneak peek" order arrived yesterday and I was like a child on Christmas morning!  After eagerly opening the box, there were lots of ohs and ahs.  Though I am not allowed to show you the new products until the end of this month, I am able to share a card with you that incorporates some of the new product.  Check out the yellow flower!  It was made using the new White Simply Pressed Clay and the Blossoms Mold from the Blossoms & Buttons Simply Pressed Molds.  The flower was white but I used the Aqua Painter and Daffodil Yellow Classic Ink to "paint" the color onto the flower.  It has been a lot of fun playing with the clay and I can't wait to show you more of the possibilities using it.

Bright Blossoms with Flower Embellishment

The card was made using Baja Breeze CS (card stock) as the base then layering with Daffodil Delight CS and Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  Whisper White CS was cut using the Labels Collection Framelits and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  The Bright Blossoms Stamp Set with Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Markers was used to stamp the vase.  The clay flower as discussed earlier was then attached to the tall flower stem.  A stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Collection was used to add the message using Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Ink Pad.

Here's another card that was made this week to send to someone special...
Regal Rose Hydrangea

The base is Whisper White CS with a layer of Regal Rose DSP from the Brights Color Color Designer Series Paper Stack.   Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon was used to embellish.  The Hydrangea stamp is from the Best of Flowers set and was stamped using Regal Rose and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers.  The Loving Thoughts Stamp Set message was stamped using Staz-on Jet Black Ink.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me (

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check in on Monday...more sneak peek will be shown.
Until then, have a good weekend!

"Flowers Are Blooming"

What crazy weather!  Not sure what weather you've been experiencing, but this past weekend those of us in Georgia were able to revisit February weather.  It certainly was not our normal May warmth!  Let's hope that we'll all have sunshine and warmer temperatures soon.

For Mishmash Monday, I'm sharing three card samples prepared for next week's "Flowers are Blooming" class.  Each was prepared using a different stamp set and different techniques.  The first card was made using my favorite flower stamp - Secret Garden and the inspiration for the design was from a card prepared by Brandy Cox.

Happy Birthday card using Secret Garden Stamp set
The card base is Daffodil Delight card stock (CS).  The first layer is Whisper White CS which has been stamped using three stamps (large flower, small solid flower and leaves) from the Secret Garden Stamp set.  The larger flower was stamped using Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin' Ink Pad.  The next step was to use the solid flower to stamp the center of the larger flower using Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Ink Pad.  The stamp off-stamp on technique was used - i.e. ink stamp, stamp first onto a scrap paper, then stamp onto your card.  This removes some of the ink from the stamp thus the stamped image is not as intense in color and creates a shadow effect.  For the leaves, Old Olive Classic Stampin' Ink Pad was used and the image was stamped three times before re-inking.  This shadow effect around the flowers makes it appear that the flowers are peeking through the leaves thus adding dimension.  Another flower and two leaves were stamped onto scrap Whisper White CS and cut using Secret Garden Framelits in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. The Happy Birthday greeting was stamped onto Whisper White CS using Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin' Pad and the Hostess Wacky Wishes Stamp Set.  The Labels Collection Framelits set was used to cut the stamped label and a label was cut from Daffodil Delight CS.  The greeting was then layered onto the Daffodil Delight label.  The cut flower and leaves were attached to the side of the label using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Additional Stampin' Dimensionals were used to attach the greeting with flower to the card.  Unless otherwise noted, SNAIL adhesive was used to put card layers together.  A Pearl Basic Jewel was added to the center of the cut flower.  As an added touch, the Whisper White CS interior card liner was stamped in a lower corner to add a finishing touch with ample room left for adding a personalized message.  The Whisper White Envelope was also stamped.
Envelope stamped with Secret Garden Stamp Set

The second card uses Betsy's Blossoms and again, I'm using the Brights Collection CS and Stampin' Classic Inks (do you think I'm ready for summer and bright colors?)!!!  Regal Rose and Pumpkin Pie ink colors were used to stamp the flowers and Staz On Jet Black ink was used to stamp the saying from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set (retiring soon!).  The saying (again, thinking of sunshine!) was cut using the Apothecary Accents Framelits Collection.  Stampin' Dimensionals were used to attach the label.  The card liner, as well as, the envelope were also stamped.
Betsy's Blossoms - "Live in the Sunshine"
Envelope stamped with Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set

The last card is a cheerful card that was quick to prepare.  It utilizes the Summer Smooches DSP (retiring soon!) layered onto a card base of Daffodil Delight CS.  The Bright Blossoms Stamp Set was used to stamp the image onto Whisper White CS that had been cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelit.  The top portion of the frame piece was cut using scissors after attaching to the Summer Smooches DSP (refer to photo).  On a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, the flower image was stamped again.  Then using paper snips, the vase shape was cut and then using Stampin' Dimensionals was layered over the stamped vase image on the Whisper White CS accent piece.  A greeting was stamped and embellishments added.

More Note Cards

Hope your week is going well. It's been a busy week for me.  On Monday, I traveled to St. Simon, Georgia, to participate in a two-day golf tournament.  It's an annual event that is always a lot of fun.

Now that I'm home, it's back to completing what was started in Monday's Mishmash...finishing the note card set and redoing the card candy. Below you will see the final two note cards of the four card set.
3" x 3" Note Cards
The card candy that experienced a bit of a mishap (i.e. ink on hands!) has been reworked and is displayed below.  Card candy is perfect to have available so that when you need to make a card quickly,  the embellishments are ready to add.  The samples prepared were all made from my scrap's a great way to use those small leftovers.   Like preparing a card, use layers and add dimension.

Card Candy - Stampin' Up!

It's a new month and Stampin' Up! has released another Best of 25 Years stamp set to continue the anniversary celebration.  The May set is "Best of Brides and Babies".
