Hope you had a great weekend. As mentioned last week, two tutorials were being prepared to share with you – an envelope tutorial and a treat tutorial. To jog your memory, below is the photo of the envelope that I made for a “Fancy Envelope Swap” that was held at convention.
|
Handmade Envelope using Stampin’ Up! Card Stock and Flower Shop Stamp Set |
For the tutorial, I have used plain white card stock but when making an envelope for a card, select the appropriate card stock or designer series paper to coordinate with your project.
Step 1: Cut card stock, 7″ by 11″.
Step 2: Score on the 11″ side at 2 1/2″ and 7″.
Step 3: Rotate paper and score the 7″ side at 1/2″ and 6 1/2″. See below:
At this time, you should stamp your card stock and if desired, use an edgelit or a border punch to create a decorate edge on the top flap (2 1/2″ scored side). You can also use an embossing folder at this stage.
Step 4: Fold 1/2″ and 6 1/2″ score lines using bone folder. Then use snips to cut off the 1/2″ piece on each of the sides. Cut only to the 2 1/2″ score line and from the 7″ score line to the bottom of the card stock, as shown below:
Step 5: To decrease the bulk when folded, snip a small triangle from top and bottom of each of the extended side flaps. See below:
Step 6: Fold side flaps in toward center of envelope and add sticky strip.
Step 7: Remove red strip and fold bottom of envelope (7″ scored line) over the sticky strip flaps to form envelope pocket.
Step 8: If desired, create a belly band by cutting a 1 1/2″ x 10″ strip of designer series paper or additional card stock to wrap around card to hold flap closed. Embellish as desired.
To “kick it up a notch”, available on August 1 in the Holiday Mini Catalog, Envelope Liners Framelits Dies (item #132172) will be available!

The treat pouch was also made for swapping at convention. Inside of the pouch is a Ghiradelli Chocolate Square. I decided since there would be ample cards for swapping, it would be fun to create a pouch and swap chocolates for cards! These make a great give-away when you want to let someone know you’re thinking of them.
|
Treat Holder made using Stampin’ Up! Ovals Collection Framelits. Holds Ghiradelli Chocolate Square. |
Directions:
- Use the large, scalloped oval from the Ovals Collection Framelits (Item #129381) and Big Shot to cut card stock into scalloped oval.
- With the widest side of the oval against upper edge of simply scored scoring tool (Item #122334), score the oval at 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″, 3 1/2″ and 3 3/4″.
- Rotate card stock so that narrow part of oval can now be scored. Score at 2 3/4″ and 3″.
- Using paper snips, cut edge out of each side of oval along the 2 3/4″ score line until you reach the intersection of the inner most score line (1 1/2″, 3 1/2″). It will resemble a tree with a short trunk…or it could be a bush!
- Using bone folder, fold along all score lines. Fold center (trunk) inward, fold left flap in and follow with right flap to create a pocket. Use adhesive to hold flaps in place (mini glue dots worked wonderfully).
- Embellish as desired.
These are the perfect size for the Ghiradelli Chocolate Square….unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture with the chocolate outside of the pouch and for once, my house is chocolate free! But I’m sure you get an idea of how the pouch works:)
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy using these tutorials!

Hi everyone! The convention ended last week and now I’ve recuperated from all the fun! It’s taken a week to sort through the beautiful swaps received and plan ways to incorporate the ideas into different projects. In addition to being exciting, the convention was very inspiring and at times, overwhelming. The opportunity to attend workshops, see new products and learn ways to expand use of current products was invaluable. I look forward to sharing some of the projects and products with you in the upcoming weeks.
Today’s project shares are the items prepared for a Halloween Card and Treat Swap.
The first is the Halloween card. Don’t you think, the Owl Builder Punch made an adorable owl witch?!

My shares today are more swaps that were prepared for convention. The theme of each was Christmas, thus the title of this post. Two of the cards use carryover holiday items and the other uses a new stamp set from the soon to be released Holiday Catalog.
The card that is my favorite is below. It’s not clearly shown in the photo but the card has just the right amount of sparkle.
|
Stampin’ Up! Northern Flurry Christmas Card |
Steps for making card:
- Attach the Designer Series Paper (from upcoming Holiday catalog) to card base (Cherry Cobbler, item #119685).
- Emboss the Whisper White card stock (item #100730) using the Northern Flurry Texture Impressions Embossing Folder (item #120902).
- Use Holiday Ornaments Framelits (item #127816) to cut an ornament shape in the corner of the card stock in the area not embossed.
- Attach to Designer Series layer of card.
- Use Dazzling Details (item #124117) and a small paint brush to highlight embossed snowflakes.
- Stamp greeting from Petite Pairs Stamp Set (item #128706 wood or 122497 clear) onto Whisper White card stock, attach and add small bow using Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine (item #123125) at ornament top.
The next Christmas card is one that is simple and serene. The Evergreen stamp set was used to stamp the tree. The tree outline stamp in the set was then used to stamp over the solid tree with Versamark ink and Wild Wasabi embossing powder.

The last card uses Winter Frost Designer Series Paper and the Festive Flurry Stamp and Framelits Set from the Holiday Catalog. It is a great stamp set that can be used to create a variety of winter themed cards, invitations and decorations!

Hope you’re having a great weekend! It’s another cloudy, rainy day in Georgia so it’s a good time to catch up on my blog. Today, two more convention swaps are being shared.
The first is Card Candy. As you’ll note, it’s packaged and ready for swapping. One of the swap requirements was to select a stamp set from the new catalog and use it to prepare a package of card candy. “Mosaic Madness” is the stamp set that I selected.

The mosaic pattern is currently very popular…next time you receive a catalog or sales flyer, look closely and you’ll likely see clothing, household decor and furnishings with the pattern.
Another convention swap, in which I’m participating, is a “Fancy Envelope Swap”. The task is to create an envelope from card stock or designer series paper and embellish it. The envelope is perfect to use when presenting cards in person or attaching to a gift.

On the envelope interior, I used the new Envelopes Framelits Die from the new Holiday Catalog and is available for order on August 1.
The envelope was fun to make and when I return from convention, I will be posting a detailed tutorial on making your own envelope. Be sure to register “to follow by email” so you will receive notice of the posting!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

As mentioned in earlier posts, the Stampin’ Up! Convention is this month so I’m in the midst of completing cards to use in various organized swaps. One is a “Thank You” card swap and below is a card made using the reverse masking technique.
|
Thank You Card using Stampin’ Up! Mixed Bunch and Flower Shop Stamps | |
Supplies Used:
Daffodil Delight Card Stock
Very Vanilla Card Stock
Mixed Bunch Stamp Set
Flower Shop Stamp Set
Sassy Salutations Stamp Set
Everythink Eleanor Stamp Set
Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad
Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Pad
Pear Piazzazz Classic Stampin’ Pad
Blossom Punch
Pansy Punch
In my last blog post, a Get Well card was shared. Using the same materials, I prepared cards for a “WOW” swap that requires using a new stamp set from the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! catalog. As you’ll notice in the card below, I have added “WOW” to the card by heat embossing the center flower and adding embellishments (flower center using the Simply Pressed Clay Molds and of course, rhinestones!) What do you think?

A final card for sharing this week is not a swap but just my “10 minute” challenge! Deciding the color scheme actually took longer than preparing the card. The result – a cheerful card that was “quick and simple” to make.
