Finally! A new post!!! It’s been busy around my house the past couple of weeks and I’m finally getting back on track to post some projects. Last Friday, a neighbor organized the annual Halloween Golf Tournament for a group of ten couples. We dressed in costumes, played a 9 hole golf tournament and enjoyed dinner together. It was a blast! Playing golf in costume was not the easiest thing to do but it wasn’t exactly serious golf, as wine was served prior to teeing off. My task was to provide treats for the group and I decided to make Treat Bags based upon Julie Brewer’s design from the Inky Fingers Club. It was an easy and fairly quick project to complete.
Various designs from the Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper was used to cut the flag pennants. Elegant Eggplant and Pumpkin Pie card stocks were used to cut the Chalk Talk Framelits tag. The tags were then texture embossed with the Houndstooth Embossing folder. Assorted Halloween themed sayings (current and retired) were used to add a Halloween sentiment. The clothespins for closing the cello bags was covered with Witches’ Brew Designer Washi Tape.
Many thanks to Julie for this project idea! Be sure to check out Inky Fingers Club.

Last week’s posts were supposed to automatically update while I was on vacation but obviously there was a glitch so the projects will be shared this week. I had a wonderful week on the Florida Panhandle and Tropical Storm Karen fizzed so the weather was perfect. Below is a picture of the beautiful sunsets we enjoyed each evening…
Now for my project share…next month I will be participating in a craft fair so I’m in the midst of making a variety items to sell. One of the items being prepared are covered mini-notepads. The pads are a miniature version of hardbound composition books and are the perfect size for keeping in a purse or other handy place. Coastal Cabana Designer Series Paper was used on the sample below. The sentiment is from the Best of Greetings Stamp set and the Chalk Talk Framelits were used to cut the shape.

Today’s project is another of the cards that will be featured in the October “Folds and Flips” class…it’s a tri-fold shutter card. This type of card is a fun card to make and by using a variety of coordinating designer papers you can create a beautiful card. The Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper was chosen to make this card and sentiments were selected for a “keeping in touch” card. As seen in the photos, the card has sections that have been created by scoring and cutting the card stock base. Different pieces of the designer series paper were cut to fit in each of the sections. A photo of the card laying flat has also been included.

It’s hard to believe that it’s October…the year seems to be flying by! The September Fall Card class was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed making cards celebrating the new season. Now planning for the October classes is underway. The focus will be on learning different folding techniques to create unique cards with movable parts. One of the cards that will be made utilizes the Circle Card Thinlits Die and since birthday cards are always needed at one time or another, I decided it would be a good theme for the first card sample…a Flip Birthday Card! When the card is opened the circle “flips” to expose the saying on the reverse side.
